Technical Training with Girard Perregaux
As Swisstec is the official After Sales Service Centre for Girard Perregaux in the UK, I was given the opportunity to become our second authorised watchmaker and attend training at their headquarters in Le Locle Switzerland.
The Level 1 accreditation training I attended covers the servicing and repair of the Girard Perregaux in-house automatic calibres, chronographs and quartz movements.
The training was on a one-to-one basis with their Training Manager and took place over five days at their state of the art After Sales Service centre, where I was guided through the use of the specific tooling required to adjust and service Girard Perregaux watches. The course also covered casing dynamic poising of the balance and the quality control and aesthetic standards applied to all completed watches.
The week was rounded off with a tour of the brands movement manufacturing and watch assembly facility at La Chaux-de-Fonds where all the in house calibre movements are produced, assembled and timed ready for COSC certification at the testing laboratories in Le Locle which are just a stones throw away.
I am looking forward to putting this training into practice and returning to Girard Perregaux for the Level 2 training next year.
